Egypt on steroids – short review of the Moon Knight series

Unlike other recent Marvel productions, Moon Knight seems to be well thought out and very carefully prepared. I started watching the series only because I was interested in the set design presented in the trailer. A slightly different atmosphere than the one to which Marvel has got us used to. And after seeing the whole thing, I was very pleasantly surprised. Despite quite negative opinions from the nerdy community, I liked Moon Knight.

Unfortunately, so far Disney has not spoiled us with good productions. Perhaps visually good, but certainly not good – or even acceptable – in terms of plot. WandaVision, Loki, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, HawkEye – all of these items were a huge waste of time and I expected that from Moon Knight as well. So I started watching with a rather negative attitude.

As I mentioned, to my surprise, the plot was completely bearable. One of the Egyptian gods breaks free from “prison” in order to destroy civilization – again. Our protagonist is the Moon Knight – an avatar of different god. This time, however, the main character is not perfect in every way. He suffers from a split personality and his personality manifests itself in three different people, one of which remains a mystery until the last episode.

The personalities we meet: Steven Grant and Marc Spector are as different as they are interesting. Steven is a charming archaeological nerd with a rather sensitive and gentle personality. He also speaks with a distinctive English accent. Marc is a highly trained mercenary who, despite his good heart, is tormented by remorse.

The main character’s struggles with the antagonist and, above all, with the demons of his past are the backbone of the series. In addition, the plot is close in the style to Indiana Jones and touches Egyptian mythology. Anyway, the latter is very interesting and visually breathtaking.

Overall, the set design, CGI, light and music are a big plus to the show. This time, Marvel has definitely decided to take a slightly different, more serious path in creating history – and it shows. Overall, I definitely recommend the series. Unlike other productions that promote thoughtlessness, this one stands out as a breath of fresh air. If something was wrong while watching it, it’s a reference to Eternals. Nothing should refer to this cancer, because it diminishes its value. Nevertheless, the Moon Knight is worth a look.
